Scholarship Fund Loses Longtime Friend and Treasurer

On August 4th, 2012, the John Mastronardi Memorial Scholarship Fund lost one of its founding committee members and its dedicated treasurer.  Mastronardi Fund committee members are both shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of Phil Falzone.  Falzone, resided in Saugus for many years, but grew up in Revere. He was a childhood pal and long-time friend of the late John Mastronardi.  After Mastronardi passed away in 1994, Falzone was one the friends and family members who gathered and decided to perpetuate John’s memory by providing scholarships to deserving Revere High School graduates.

Since the fund’s inception eighteen years ago, Phil rarely missed a fund raising activity and was an active participant at every one of the scholarship presentations.  More than his dedication to the John Mastronardi Fund, Phil was a great person and a true friend.  He will forever be missed by all of us.

Falzone was the son of the late Philip and Anna (Maniscalco), loving brother of Maryanne Carrabba & her husband Michael of Brighton, Anne Travalini of Revere, Carolyn Cucinatti & her husband Paul of Winchester, Christine Mandracchia of Danvers, Richard Falzone & his wife Rosemary of Wilmington, Joseph Falzone & his wife Robin of Manchester-By-The-Sea, and the late Theresa Catapano & her husband Frank Catapano of NH.

As a tribute to Phil’s dedication to our scholarship fund, his family chose to mention the John Mastronardi Memorial Fund in Phil’s obituary.  We are truly thankful for such a thoughtful acknowledgment.  We would like to thank those who generously donated in loving memory of Phil Falzone:
