The John Mastronardi Memorial Scholarship Committee is proud to announce that this April 16th, Christine Scully will run the 2018 Boston Marathon in memory of John.  Christine is the girlfriend of John’s son, Michael.  The two attended Northeastern University together, where Christine studied speech pathology.  Christine grew up in Bethpage, NY, and currently resides in Dorchester.  She graduated Bethpage High School in 2007, completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Northeastern in 2012. The John Mastronardi Memorial Scholarship Committee is proud to announce that this April 17th, Amy DeNuzzio will run the 2017 Boston Marathon in memory of John. The Patriot’s Day race will mark DeNuzzio’s first time running Boston. She ran her first ever marathon this past October, the 2016 Cape Cod Marathon, where she achieved her goal of running an injury-free race in under 5 hours and crossed the finish line in 4:38. The 22nd Annual John Mastronardi Memorial Scholarships were awarded to 2016 Revere High School graduates Anthony Buonopane and Courtney Guadagno.  Both, Buonopane and Guadagno, received scholarships in the amount of $3,500.00 toward their pursuit of an educational degree in college. On Monday, April 18, 2016, Meredith Wells will run the 120th Boston Marathon in memory of John Mastronardi.  Meri is a good friend of John’s son, Michael Mastronardi, as the two attended Northeastern University together.

Meri, who currently resides in Malden, grew up in Woburn, graduating from Woburn High School in 2007 and Northeastern in 2012.  She now works in the Talent Acquisition Department as a recruiter for PAREXEL, a clinical research organization. Continue reading

Kelly Kimball Grissom took “Running for John” to the west coast, completing the 2014 Rock-n-Roll Marathon in Seattle on June 21st. Grissom ran her first-ever 26.2 race for “Team in Training,” raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  A dear friend of the late John Mastronardi and the step-sister of John’s daughter, Alexis Mastronardi, Grissom made the heartfelt decision to run her inaugural marathon in memory of John.  Continue reading

June 10, 2014 marked a special day for the John Mastronardi Memorial Scholarship Committee, as the 20th Annual John Mastronardi Memorial Scholarships were awarded. The Library of the Abraham Lincoln Elementary School in Revere once again marked the site of the annual scholarship presentation ceremony. Revere High School graduates, Brittani Napoli and Alexa Dacey, were the recipients of the 2014 Scholarships. Napoli and Dacey were awarded scholarships in the amount of $3,000.00 and were presented with commemorative plaques honoring their high school achievements. Continue reading

Michael Mastronardi, the son of late John Mastronardi ran the 118th Boston Marathon in memory of his father. The Patriot’s Day race marked Michael’s first-ever marathon and he crossed the finish line on Boylston Street in an official and impressive time of 4:40.07. Mastronardi both trained and fundraised throughout the winter for the grueling 26.2 mile trek. Generous donations to Michael’s run surpassed $4,000.00 and will allow the John Mastronardi Memorial Fund to award two scholarships this June. Continue reading

The 19th Annual John Mastronardi Memorial Scholarships were awarded on Tuesday evening, June 11, 2013. Family, friends and members of the Mastronardi Memorial Committee gathered in the library of the Abraham Lincoln Elementary School to award the scholarships to 2013 Revere High School graduates, Maggie DiPlatzi and Danielle Smith.
