On April 15, 2013, Kerry Wilson represented the John Mastronardi Memorial Fund by running the 117th Boston Marathon.  As the Fund’s official runner, Wilson raised over $2,500.00, the amount equal to one of the two scholarships that will be awarded to deserving Revere High School graduates this June. On August 4th, 2012, the John Mastronardi Memorial Scholarship Fund lost one of its founding committee members and its dedicated treasurer.  Mastronardi Fund committee members are both shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of Phil Falzone.  Falzone, resided in Saugus for many years, but grew up in Revere. He was a childhood pal and long-time friend of the late John Mastronardi.  After Mastronardi passed away in 1994, Falzone was one the friends and family members who gathered and decided to perpetuate John’s memory by providing scholarships to deserving Revere High School graduates. Members of the John Mastronardi Memorial Scholarship Fund Committee met on Monday, June 11th, to recognize the 2012 scholarship recipients. Revere High School graduates, Nanci DiLiegro and Jailyn Rodriguez, were each presented with scholarships in the amount of $2,500.00, as well as with commemorative plaques honoring their achievements. The John Mastronardi Memorial Fund made monetary donations to local charities during the 2011 holiday season. During the weeks leading up to Christmas, the Mastronardi committee members distributed checks for $250.00 to two different charity organizations. Receiving the funds were the Stephen’s Ministry and the Lincoln School Christmas Fund. Both organizations work to help make the holidays special for families in need. Continue reading

The 17th Annual John Mastronardi Memorial Scholarship was presented on Monday, June 13th, 2011 in the library of the Abraham Lincoln Elementary School. Not only was the scholarship award amount increased this year, but due to extremely generous support and incredible fundraising efforts throughout the year, the Mastronardi Committee also decided to award an additional scholarship in 2011. Revere High School graduates, Marissa Parent and Rebecca Coots, were the two scholarship recipients this year. Continue reading

Sarah Russell and Bill McLaughlin represented the John Mastronardi Memorial Scholarship Fund, running the Boston Marathon on April 18th, 2011. Both were rookie marathoners and achieved their ultimate goal, completing the 26.2 mile course. The duo trained through the winter months and fundraised for the Mastronardi Scholarship, before the Patriot’s Day challenge, the 115th Boston Marathon. Continue reading
